Where have I been you ask?
Absolutely no where
I could give you dozens of excuses about busy holiday time, busy work, blah blah blah
Basically while I will admit to being busy in life. I was also using it as an excuse to be lazy in creativity.

So here we are almost at the end of January and here's what I've accomplished in the the past 2-3 weeks
First off
I pulled this baby out of the corner, dusted her off and got back to business

I kinda keep changing my mind about colors a bit
When I started this piece I had in my mind that as a challenge to myself I would try to stay within a yellow, orange, red, purple and of course gold palette. The plan was to not use blue or green. However as I get deeper into the details of this particular painting I find myself trying to sneak those two colors in. I'm not sure if you can see in these pictures but I've used a dark blue (with purple undertones but nonetheless it's still frickin blue) and a deep grayish olive color. It's like I'm trying to sneak the colors in under the radar. A friend at work looked at me oddly and pointed out "but you're the radar"
My only reply could be
"I'm crazy" clearly!

On another note
I'm working on a monarch butterfly that my mom commissioned for a dear friend.
I usually stress a lot about commissioned pieces but this one I'm having a lot of fun with

Also sorry about the blurry pics
I just noticed
Probably should use my glasses next time I edit
In addition to cutting down on my coffee intake to possibly ensure less wobbly hands
Or
I could always use the new camera I got for Xmas......that might be the smartest move :)
