So clearly I (like pretty much most of the population of any current snow covered 36 degree weather state) am really, REALLY ready for some spring green. I'm one of those who generally doesn't mind winter or snow. I actually prefer it to those god awful humid heat wave days of summer. I have been called crazy or looked at with a horrified expression many times when I dare to verbalize this opinion out loud. But while the cold doesn't bother me the lack of color does. Everything is drab and dead looking. I NEED GREEN!
Lots and lots of wonderful shades of green! The evergreens just aren't cutting it for me right now.
This could explain why I had another one of my driving to work epiphanies on a design I was seriously stalled on.
If you haven't already met Mr. Styracosaurus let me introduce you:

The concept was there but I got stumped on the leaf design. I tried over and over a bunch of different designs - decided I didn't like it - the design was either to busy or the colors were off - bottom line was I was blocked on what to do with all those damn leaves. Now don't get me wrong I had a basic concept of what I wanted but the details of how to achieve it alluded me. I would end up trying something, hating it then repainting over it...blahhhhhh!
I was seriously stumped so off to a far corner of my studio it got put. Everytime I would walk through my studio I would usually stop and just stare at it for a while. It really irked me that I couldn't figure out what to do but I knew I really wanted to get back to work on it.
Now I'm not sure exactly what the epiphany was other than it had to do with green and my need to see more of it in all it's glorious colors and shades.

So I'm back to work and liking where I'm going so far. I did however not comprehend the level of monotony that painting over a hundred leaves the same way could cause. But it's all good
25 down about 80 more to go.
On another note:
My need for spring growth and color always seems to spawn a flower piece.

I know it's upside down. Just getting those base colors filled in.
